on my mind

the big test is over! for better or worse. my room is a mess from not really living the past week. somehow i don't completely feel the sigh of relief i was looking forward to. still hoping that things will go ok with the applications. i don't know. one more test left before the semester is officially over. shouldn't be too bad.

my communication skills still need work, and i should correct people when they misunderstand what i am saying. cause then people are getting a different impression of me. sigh. by the time i decide to say something, the appropriate moment has passed.

i realized tonight that i hang out with mostly guys. it's fun and we play foosball a ton and just kid around. i haven't really noticed it until i ate dinner with a couple girls from school tonight. the conversation consisted of getting hair done and future plans of hair. i guess i talk about that too now that i got it cut. (btw, my dad gave me my most recent hair cut! saved at least $40! why is hair cutting so expensive out here??) but didnt' have much to add to the segment on highlights and hair dying. there's a girls night out coming up that i think i'll take part in. this is a complete change from college where i hung out almost completely with girls. although that could be due to some guy and a cool sport.

i've gone slingless for the past week and my collar bone is getting stronger. still get sharp shooting pain from moving my foosball people too quickly. oh, i've been trying to dull my reaction time in order not to hurt myself. i just watch things fall now. sad. but it is for the better. i would like to get on the core performance program once things heal up. i'll be a couple weeks behind. but i'm excited to get back in shape. it was tough jogging up a hill tonight. sigh.

all in all, things are not too shabby. can't complain too much. only the thought of the future brings anxiety. i watched a discovery channel program on birth giving. they followed several women through the end of their pregnancy, and man, they looked like they were in soooo much pain. makes me appreciate my mom. speaking of moms, my dad reorganized his den and hung a picture of my grandmother on the wall. she recently passed away, and i think it affected my dad a great deal. i've never really seen him do anything emotional like that before. all the pictures we have of the fam in our house seems to have been put up rather randomly (and by mom). but the deliberate action of displaying this piture gave it special meaning. i'm happy to get a glimpse of his innards. also, this past summer, my grandfather on my mother's side told me he picked out the site of his grave. um... what do i say to that? don't die!

i think mit girls tend to be less frivolous...something about mit makes hair seem like the least of your worries. appearance doesn't really matter, and we're also more in tune with our practical sides (maybe cuz of engineering/science). i'm kinda doing the same thing, all my better friends here seem to be guys. maybe part of it is also that i can't find girls cool enough to replace yall :-)
