thanksgiving eve

ho! the drive from dc to pittsburgh is nice. the rolling hills of west virginia are peaceful to look at. it was good relaxing therapy after losing my wallet. grr. i feel like lily. except i don't think i can go fishing for it. i was in the waiting room of the doctor's office and was called up. i had it while sitting and then when i walked to the front desk, i realized i didn't. then it was gone. where did it go? i hope my cash went to some good.

the good news is my bone is healing! hooray! the doc said 3 months before sports. mmm.. i hope he was being conservative. i will find out more on jan 3.

i went to see casino royale last night. i'm a james bond fan. and i can't decide if i like it as a james bond movie. it was entertaining, daniel craig is muscley, and there's an awesome urban ninja building jumping scene in the beginning (next on my list of things to learn). but several things were off. too many feelings. too much brute force and not enough finesse. no money penny (although there was a reference). and the worst... no gadgets!

No gadgets?! That's absurd!

I'm sorry to hear you lost your wallet. Did you get a car? Or did you rent...?

Come on, he did have a defribrillator in his glove box... I enjoyed the movie, and Daniel Craig was better than I was expecting, but he still wasn't good enough. He's just so raw - big muscles, sharp lines, sharp and tormented personality. There wasn't much finesse, charisma, class, whatever you want to call it that made Sean Connery the God of all Bonds. I do still like Judi Dench as M.

i think all the raw brute force, and relative paucity in both class and gadgetosomotology all reflect the naivety and inexperience of the young James bond in his first promotion and assignment as a double O agent. with future films we'll probably see an evolution in the gadgertorium, sex, and smoothening of the rough exterior of bond.
