trash and bugs and toads

it is trash day today. hooray! we always celebrated trash day at 164 willow. traditionally, trash day in the past consisted of my dad and i gathering stuff and taking it outside. we enjoyed a nice stroll outside, gazing at the stars, talking about constellations. i liked that part the best. then there was the frustrating part of placing the trash cans and the recycling bin perfectly so that the trash cans would not roll away (we live on a hill), the walking space is optimized, and the driveway is not blocked. although this sounds relatively easy, my dad has managed to lecture about it many times, explaining the best ways to arrange the direction of the trash can wheels, etc. there was not one time when i put the trashcans out there that he would not rearrange everything. but lo and behold, today, for the very first time, my arrangement of trash cans was approved! success after all these years. perhaps it is the result of losing all those roshams to take out the trash :P

and, i noticed that in pittsburgh suburbs, the lightning bugs have replaced the mosquitoes from boston. instead of getting bitten from a swarm of mosquitoes, i enjoyed the peaceful scintillating lights of the buggers. i caught one tonight. but it did not light up in my hand...i was kinda disappointed, but oh well. oh! and there are toads here too! i thought it was a rock, but my dog kept sniffing at it, and i noticed the eyes. ah, the boonies.

(side note: there is a great lightning bug level in 'we love katamari' that is very calming to play)

by "celebrate" trash day, you really mean:
Q: Guess what day it is???!!!
A: (Grumble grumble mutter) trash day. whee.

i miss roshamming for chores. i suppose i could amuse myself by making my hands rosham for which one has to carry out the trash.

I think what Atong means is those other days of the week. Like Tuesday: Guess what, it's not trash day! Or Sunday: Guess what! Trash day is tomorrow!

There was also my personal favorite: Guess what! I can't walk down the stairs today! Guess someone else gets to take out the trash!

I tried to make my group members rosham for who had to do the presentation. It took 5 minutes to explain the concept of more than 2 people roshaming simultaneously. Except then after we did it, the team leader decided the result didn't make any sense and just assigned jobs instead. But I did sucessfully get them to do 1-2-shoot. Next time, I think we'll talk about why it's called rosham.

today i made a coworker rosh at work for the front seat. we threw the same thing 5 times in a row and he said exasperatedly, "what the hell is going on?!" and just took the front seat. they have much to learn...

i made my boss rosh for the last dumpling. actually, he's my boss's boss's boss. the whole thing seemed very formal and he sat very straight. seems that i was the only one who carried it out successfully (he won). i think ppl are more comfortable if you start off calling it paper scissor rock and ease them into the word rosham.
