continued from before...
the drive home from ny was better than the way up, at least for me. i used much more cruise control and ended up happy. i started kinda losing a little control near the end (late at night) which caused my mom to freak a little...who wouldn't though... anyway, we got back safely. yay! so yea, my sister decides to surprise me with a cool led light up frisbee. it seems like a pretty good one too, better than all the other light up frisbees i've seen in my day. that got me pretty excited. i don't remember what happened the rest of the weekend. i think i watched a lot of tv.
when we were in ny at my mom's friend's house, she and her spent the whole time reminiscing about old times. apparently they did everything together as kids from the beginning of grade school to college. and even after 20 years of not really communicating, she was able to go back and still feel so comfortable around her. that's so cool. the other day i went into my backyard, which unfortunately doesn't happen too often, and just looked around. i've lived in my house for 13 years, and i still don't know any of my neighbors. i don't even know what some of them look like. what was i doing all those 13 years? i dunno...practicing violin and piano i suppose, maybe doing homework, studying for the sats since 6th grade? i spent most of my time preparing for music competition. after one was done, it was time to prepare for another one. all that time spent practicing took up all my time suppsoed to spend w/ friends. as a result i don't have that friend that i can go back after 20 years and still be great friends. well, maybe that's not true. i have made great friends in the last 1-2 years after i actually slowed down on the practicing part. was it all worth it? it was definitely cool to learn work ethic, to see myself struggling to play the notes of a piece then later know the piece so well i can play it in my sleep. it proved to me that if i put time and effort into something, good will come out of it. well, since i've learned the work ethic part, i guess i can start the building friendship part. i've got time. still in college w/ lots of ppl around. that'll be my goal for this year. make some good friends.
spiderman's cool. he was in my dream last night.
so my mother gave me this job of helping my sister get into youth symphony. it's been frustrating, but fun at the same time. i'm spending a lot more time w/ my sister before i leave, so it's good. i went to her cello lesson today, (which lasted 2 hrs!). her teacher was amazing. he transformed her playing completely in just those 2 hours. so cool. it's made me want to start playing and taking lessons again. i dunno if i'll have time. but i guess i won't know until i tried. gotta take action. thanks to b for helping me realize that.
